Vigna unguiculata

Adaptive Population | Great Addition to the Winter Pantry

A wonderfully diverse landrace population of cowpeas that came to us via Joseph Lofthouse. He originally formulated and selected this variety for early maturity in the high desert of Utah. This stunning show of diversity will ensure production wherever you are growing. Cowpeas (black eyed peas) have been more commonly grown in the south and generally have been hard to mature in our short season. This variety has done very well for us at elevation and we have continued Joseph’s work to select it for early maturity.

Cowpeas can be eaten green or dried and used in a variety of dishes soups, salads, and even salsas.
