Solanum lycopersicum

First Drought Trial Release | Umami flavor | Indeterminate

We are so excited about this new tomato variety which is the first release from our drought trials. Magic Bullet produces loads of oblong fruits that start out almost iridescent black and then become streaked with wavy lines of lime green, yellow, and red. Firm, plum-shaped tomatoes that have never shown any sign of cracking. They taste salty and sweet with a delicious umami finish. Plants thrive and are very productive even when watered sparingly. We watered them every 15-30 days throughout the growing season.

This variety was bred by independent breeders Kanti Rawal and Steve Peters in the Eel River Valley under dry farming conditions. We are so happy to continue this intentional selection and are inspired by their work.

2 small seedlings don’t look as if they will make it

I’m not sure which of my tomatoes are magic bullet and which are chocolate silk, but I purposefully planted these three in a spot where nothing else has been happy because my irrigation water doesn’t hit it consistently. These tomatoes don’t seem to care & they are growing well even though they were about an inch or two tall when I planted them outside.
