How to grow:

Plant 2-4 weeks prior to ground freezing or to your coldest time of year. After breaking cloves apart (not peeling), plant cloves root end down (blunt end) 6-9″ apart with row 9″-12″ apart. On our farm we plant our garlic at 9″ apart, rows 9″ apart. Mulch with straw, leaves, or old hay going into the winter.

Harvest and curing

In most climates garlic will be ready early to mid July. Cut water about 2 weeks prior to harvest. Garlic is ready to harvest when bottom two sets of leaves are completely dry and when top 5-6 leaves are still 50% green. Pull garlic and hang in an well ventelated area to cure. Cure with 3-4 weeks until tops are dry. Cut off roots and tops 1.5 ” above heads. Then store in a ventalated container in a cool dark place. Ideal conditions are between 55-65 degrees and 45-60% humidity.
