Ocimum citriodorum
One of three main basils elemental to Thai cooking, this lemon-scented basil is most commonly used in southern Asian and northeastern African cuisine. It is also known as Laos Basil and hoary basil. It has small pinnate leaves and hairs along its stems. It is primarily used in curries, soups, and stir fries, added in at the end of cooking to preserve its delicate lemon flavor and aroma. Makes a great pairing with seafood. Our friends at the Wok of Joy gifted us these seeds and shared their struggles to find authentic Thai varieties to use in the US. We are so grateful for the introduction to this treasured variety.
