Cucurbita pepo
Super productive winter squash producing acorn shaped fruits with a cream colored skin. Its rich sweet flavor and texture gives it the nickname the “sweet potato squash.” It certainly fits that name and its production is sure to keep you well fed through the winter. This variety has become a treasured heirloom and has been highlighted by the Slow Food Ark of Taste. Thelma Sanders of Adair County, Missouri originally shared this variety with Evert Pettiet who then shared it with squash collector and Seed Savers Exchange member Tom Knoche in 1984. Since then it has become a highly regarded variety in the exchange and elsewhere. 85-90 days to maturity.
Grown by M+H Farms, Paonia CO.
