This woody perennial is great as a low-border plant. Small rounded bushes are covered with dark purple flowers that attract bees and other beneficial insects to the garden. It has been used as a culinary and medicinal herb for centuries. It originates from the Mediterranean region, however, it is very hardy at our elevation. It has a unique earthy almost minty scent. The plant prefers full sun and regular garden soils and good drainage. Recommend cutting back in the fall to maintain a rounded shape.
