Calendula officinalis
Easy to grow with a multitude of uses, Calendula can be grown anywhere and tolerates a wide range of conditions – even partial shade. It brings joy wherever it is found with its bright yellow and orange blossoms and honeyed scent.
Resina variety is known as the top producer of medicinal resins that all Calendulas create. When picking its flowers your fingers will be sticky with resins. This versatile plant can be used in floral displays, medicinal ointments, as a plant dye, or our favorite way – in herbal teas.
Calendula is very drought tolerant and remarkably cold tolerant, shining bright as one of the last flowers in the garden after the first few kisses of winter. A good container plant, it produces compact plants no taller than 2 feet.
Grown by Horton Nash Farms in Paonia, Colorado.
