We are beyond thrilled to offer this exceptional tomato from the breeding work of Karen Olivier with True North Seeds in Victoria, BC. This oxheart tomato is truly a beauty inside and out. When ripe, Midnight Sun has slightly elongated yellow hearts with subtle red marbling that becomes redder at the tip, hinting at the vibrant red streaking through the center. Cutting through this tomato is like being surprised with an extra gift. The taste has a complex bright sweetness with an almost peachy flavor. It has a meaty but juicy texture with very few seeds.

This variety was bred over 9 years for cool season production, striking bicolor appearance, and flavor. In our trials the last few years, Midnight Sun has performed exceptionally well in all of these areas. It was especially striking when it wasn’t set back after a late spring cold snap.

Oxheart tomatoes have a slightly different look and growth habit than other tomatoes. They have potato-like leaves that twist and droop off the plant, giving it a sparse and willowy look. Don’t worry, that is completely normal. To ensure the best production and protection from the sun, we recommend allowing for more than one main stem and minimal pruning.
