Cucurbita pepo
The creamy texture and buttery texture of the Yellow Crookneck has stood the test of time. And for good reason! It is a particular favorite of the Martin Family, whose seed saving gave us our start.
The yellow crookneck squash with its crooked neck and slightly warty yellow skin, has been cultivated for over 200 years. There is record of it being grown by the Arikara tribe along the Missouri river and by the Camden family in New Jersey as early as the 1800s. We are so excited to bring it forward into our offering.
Harvest with young because they quickly develop a thick warty skin when left too long on the plant.
